About this policy
This policy applies to tanya-clark.com. It explains what information is collected when you use this site, how it is used, and your rights in relation to it. It is written to meet the requirements of the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, where applicable, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR.
Information collected automatically
If you accept analytics cookies, this site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors find and use the site. Google Analytics collects pages visited, approximate location (worked out from your IP address, which GA4 does not store), device type, browser, and how you arrived at the site. It sets cookies holding a randomly generated identifier so that repeat visits from the same browser can be counted. The identifier does not contain your name or email address, but because it is unique to your browser it is treated as personal information under the GDPR. The data is used only to understand and improve the site. Google signals and advertising personalisation are switched off for this site.
If you do not accept, Google Analytics is not loaded and none of this information is collected.
Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC under their own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Contact and response forms
This site does not currently operate its own mailing list. The Connect section links to an external publication platform, which operates under its own privacy policy. If you subscribe there, your information is held by that platform and governed by their terms.
This site uses Formspree to handle contact form submissions. When you submit the contact form, your name, email address, and message are transmitted to Formspree and forwarded to the site operator. Your email address is not exposed in the site's code. Formspree processes data under their own privacy policy, available at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
Information submitted through the contact form will be used only to respond to your enquiry and will not be shared with third parties or used for any other purpose.
The Conversation pages have a separate response form, also handled by Formspree. It sends your name, email address, your response, and the passage you are responding to. Responses are read before anything is published. Selected responses may be published on the site as notes in the margin of the thread, credited under the name you give, and a response that changes the text may also be credited by name in the thread’s revision history. Your email address is never published. If your response is selected, you will hear before it appears. You can ask for a published response, or your name on it, to be removed under “Your rights” below.
Cookies
Google Analytics cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) are placed only after you choose “Accept analytics” on the banner shown on your first visit. They are used to distinguish visitors and sessions. These are analytics cookies only. No advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party marketing cookies are used.
Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the banner is not shown on every visit. That record stays in your browser and is not sent anywhere. You can change your choice at any time using the link in the footer of every page, and you can delete cookies through your browser settings.
Your privacy choices
This site does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. The “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer of every page reopens your analytics choice, so you can switch Google Analytics off at any time. If you previously accepted, choosing “Reject analytics” removes the analytics cookies from your browser.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, this site treats it as a request to opt out: Google Analytics is not loaded, no analytics cookies are set, and no banner is shown.
Third-party links
This site contains links to external websites. Once you leave this site, those sites' own privacy policies apply and this policy no longer governs how your information is handled.
Data retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted by Google. Email correspondence sent to this site is retained only as long as necessary to respond to your enquiry. If you request deletion of any personal information held in connection with this site, that request will be actioned within 30 days.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information held about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your personal information, actioned within 30 days
- Withdraw your consent and ask that your information no longer be used or held
- Lodge a complaint with the relevant privacy authority.
In Australia, complaints can be lodged with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au. In the EU or UK, complaints can be lodged with your local data protection authority.
AI use
Content on this site is produced with the assistance of AI tools. No personal data submitted through this site is used to train AI models.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated as the site and its infrastructure develop. The date at the top of this page reflects when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Questions about this policy or requests relating to your personal information can be directed via the contact form on the homepage.
